Kathryn Murphy Named Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers

The American College of Family Trial Lawyers (ACFTL) has named Kathryn a Diplomate. A respected organization of the top 100 family trial lawyers in the country, the ACFTL extends fellowship by invitation only to those who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose careers exemplify the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality.

As a partner of GoransonBain Ausley, Kathryn has pursued a multifaceted career that includes not only a passion for serving clients, but also a commitment to developing the profession and advancing family law legislation. She excels at successfully resolving cases that involve complex property issues and business interests, child custody, and premarital agreements. Among her peers, Kathryn has promoted the highest degree of professionalism and service to her profession as Past-President of the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section and Past-President of the Texas Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

In managing cases, Kathryn is known for establishing a close connection with clients and working together with them as a team. She embraces collaborative law when it is the right fit for clients, and she also brings considerable skills to the courtroom when litigation is deemed necessary. Above all, Kathryn’s goal is to negotiate a first-rate settlement for her clients.

Kathryn has received numerous recognitions and honors during her career. She has been named Family Law “Lawyer of the Year” in Dallas by Best Lawyers in 2015, 2017, and 2019. Only a single lawyer in each practice are is honored with this distinction. She is a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the latter a prerequisite for membership in the ACFTL. In 2018, Kathryn was the recipient of the State Bar of Texas Dan Price Award, presented to a lawyer who has had a significant impact on the Family Law Section through teaching, writing and advancing the practice of family law.

Kathryn co-authored West Publishing Company’s Texas Family Law Practice Guide, a three-volume family law treatise for attorneys which was originally published in 2000 and updated each year to the present. She has also authored numerous other publications related to family law, and she is a frequent speaker on family law issues.
